Join Iowa KidsNet, local musicans and local community leaders for "Get Lifted," a free spoken-word, jazz and rap entertainment event on Saturday, May 29, at the African American Museum of Iowa in Cedar Rapids.

The event will raise
awareness about children in foster care for May’s National Foster Care Month and also advocate community involvement with issues concerning the disproportionality of minorities in foster care.

Featured performers include youth from Elevate and the Iowa City-based quartet Koplant No, featuring saxophonist Joel Vanderheyden.


Attendees will enjoy various African coffee flavors from Roasters Coffee House in Hiawatha.  


The African American Museum of Iowa is located at 55 16th Ave, NE in Cedar Rapids.
