Placement pending. Thanks to everyone who expressed an interest in learning more about Abby, Lilly & Zakk. Their Iowa Department of Human Services worker is currently working to transition the kids into an adoptive home.
Abby, Lilly and Zakk are ready for a family that enjoys a lot of outdoor centered activities. They would like a family that enjoys going to the park, camping, fishing and swimming.
Abby, the big sister of the group, is described as very outgoing and creative. She is engaging with adults and has extensive knowledge of animals. She will probably continue to need some extra help with school and needs lots of positive reinforcement. She would like her adoptive family to be Christian.
Lilly is also a very outgoing young woman. She likes playing outside and is comfortable catching frogs or playing dress up. She thinks it would be great to live in the country. Lilly is an excellent reader who prefers to be in charge but is also a good helper.
Zakk is a very playful 6-year-old. He likes to watch movies, play with animals, go to the park and go to church. He enjoys any outdoor activity. Zakk is described as having a contagious smile and loves acknowledgement of his accomplishments. He does have an expressive language disorder and is being tested for developmental disabilities.
The kids will need a family that is very patient, has clear and concise rules and has realistic bonding and attachment expectations. Having time to coordinate the three children and work one-on-one with Zakk as needed will be important. The family will need to be able to advocate for Zakk’s educational needs. The children do require very close supervision and because of that expectation it may be best if they are the only children in the home. The children do have birth family connections that should be allowed to continue |
